New York City, August 28, 2000 Unveiling the latest of its new, highly-targeted Vertical Program GuidesSM, YackSM (www.yack.com), the Internet Program GuideSM, today launched Yacksters.com, the most complete source for teen-relevant programming and events on the Web.
Recent studies show that the number of teen girls online has more than doubled since 1999 and more than 70 percent of teens will be online by 2004. Therefore, aiming to meet the needs of one of the Web's fastest growing audiences, Yacksters.com showcases a directory of online programming for 12 to 18-year-olds culled from Yack's database of tens of thousands of live and on-demand events, including streaming media and chats.
Yacksters.com is the latest in a series of Yack Vertical Program Guides that currently includes stand-alone guides to Online Film, Radio, Animation and Seasonal Sports. These verticals allow Yack to directly reach targeted audiences - defined by interest, genre or demographic group - via Yack-branded sites. They also enable Yack to instantly transform an existing content destination site into a vertical niche portal.
"The Web is by its nature a uniquely granular medium. We've found a growing demand for listings that are highly targeted to a particular audience," said Jeff Morris, President & CEO of Yack. "Yacksters.com is our first demographically-targeted vertical and is a terrific example of how we plan to reach these niche groups with the information and content they are hungry for. Simultaneously, we will be connecting content producers to the audiences they most desire."
A haven for all that is teen pop culture - from skateboarding to ska - Yacksters.com's event listings will be sorted according to five hot teen topics: Music, TV/Film, Games, Sports and Fashion. Updated daily, Yacksters.com will also provide original news and editorial features on issues of interest to teens, such as teen sexuality, the latest videogame releases and concert news.
In addition, the site will offer many of the same special features found on Yack's main site, including free e-mail, event reminders, and calendars. A bi-weekly on-site poll will give members a chance to weigh in on their favorite hot topics.
